how accurate is the LDS.ORG website for Genealogy Records?
Hi all-
How accurate is the Mormon Site…lds.org for genealogy records? I’ve not been able to find anything on my aunt mary toland.. daughter or thomas c. toland and margarett h. barrett. I do know that she was born in 1901 in fredrickstown ohio and was married to someone with the last name “martin”
I checked on the lds. org website and supposedly they have her hubby’s information, his parents, grandparents and greatgrandparents.
It says for her :
Mary Edith Toland
born: 1901 in fredrickstown ohio to Thomas C. Toland and Margarett H. Barrett.
is this her? or are they wrong ? how can i check the accuracy ?
Carrie
The first rule is to rely on orginal records, not the research of others. What they have given you is a helpful lead. When you find these people in the 1910 and 1920 census, you will be able to tell if it is correct. Follow up by checking local Vital Records for birth and marriage information. Sometime people lied to the census taker. Sometimes they were not home and a neighbor gave them the information.
