Normally, these cells would bear combinations of numerous markers, which need to be studied together for establishing an apparent pattern. The range of markers could include mutations, which are present within the genome or could also be the presence and absence of short segments. These could be representative of genes that have been passed down from one generation to the other, without any apparent consequences like hereditary diseases or ailments. Therefore, studying a single marker is not enough to establish a genealogical pattern. One needs to study a combination of them, in order to establish a sequential similarity with the others in the database.
3. Once a specific pattern has been established, one can look for similarities.
